Passion for Fashion

(Inspiration taken from above and huge fan of)

So I was just flipping through the pages of my monthly Teen vogue Magazine and caught inspiration to post something about my passion for clothes. Not the usual topic I would normally blog about but should give it a try anyways. Most girls would and it's interesting how every girl have different sense of styles that reveals their personality.

I find it quite difficult to fit in to the latest trends of a particular year because I am one fussy person when it comes to clothing. I normally go for clothes which I am comfortable in and definitely something which brightens up my day. hehe...

I'll show you some of my kinda styles on different occasions and what sorta clothing I'm eye-ing for 2009. hehehe...

Nothing best suits my body structure than a comfortable Hip length T-shirt with Skinny Jeans and sneakers. ^_^ Simplicity is what I look for in style and something Artistic brings life to it overall.

I'm into thick heals these days coz i find them easier to walk in. Hehe.. Trust me! I'm not that type of girl who can walk in them the entire day! =P Its either I go with these or bring with me spare flip-flops or flats to save my feet. hehe...
Flats are just my thing. I like wearing them with dresses, skirts or even with skinny's. Their just the comfiest things ever. Especially those flat Ballets. hehe...

I don't usually like wearing coats but normally when it's a Must to wear em' I'd pick the funkiest lookin' one. I like these I've picked from M&S. I'd only manage to find em' when I go to the Philippines. Brunei however has got them at certain places like Iora, which aren't too bad. The only times when I am able to afford them are when salary finally arrives. LOL =P Or better yet, when there are crazy sales going on towards the end of the year.

My chick moments are the most exciting ones where I get to reveal the girliest side of me. Believe me, the girliest I can only get is when I'm wearing these kinda dresses with a lil blush and eye liner on. Nothing more than that. LOL =P I can't stand putting on tons of make-up for casual reasons. The only time I had to put on a decent makeup was prolly during gala nights and performances. LOL =P

Ahhh..yesh!!! G.L.A.M.O.R.O.U.S. is the right element for any lady to be labeled as Elegant and Gorgeous. Well, It all depends on how one person carries it well though. Haha.. Often, I play around with colour and style. Black is a must have in my closet and in addition, a lil accessorie would do just fine.

Ahhh Yes....

...the one and only Mr. Wade Robson. The most twisted yet unique and most admirable choreographer in my world. LOL... :P I don't know about you but I find most of his choreography skillful and filled with emotions. Oooh... I wonder how it's like to be taught by a choreo like him.

His talent is just waaaaayy.... wicked! Check out this vid I found of him when he was just 8 - where he was discovered.

I mean seriously, he was just 8 then. How about now? haha...there are quite a number of really talented dancers around the world and what it takes to be unique in an industry like today's is pretty hard. He is just one of those people, leaving a trademark out of uniqueness and style and that's what I love about this man! I like how he brings in everything in his choreography, from stage setting to light effects, from costumes to props. He's brought in a lot of influences to the younger generation these days and soon, there will be younger choreos coming in. Hehe...

These are some of my favorite dances choreo'ed by the dancer himself in 'So you think you can Dance' - all seasons.

Cabaret Hoover Routine - Pop Jazz

The Humming Bird & the Flower Routine - Contemporary Jazz

The group Dance in Season 3

Homeage to the Rabbits Routine

Seen enough twisted choreos? Haha... I agree that some may not appreciate his style but i think He's got what it takes to be an awesome choreographer/dancer. I salute! ^_^

For now, will leave you with something to get inspired about.Continue to love dancing!!!

Have the Heart...

Meet Knut, the cutest fury thing ever...

awwweee... He is just tooo adorable!!! The first time I fell in Love with him was after watching this vid below:

Now! Who wouldn't fall in love with such a beautiful thing. Sigh* Wished they didn't have to grow and just stay as cute as this. LOL...

Believe it or not, Knut is famous in Berlin (where he was born). He was rejected by his mother at birth, was subsequently raised by zookeepers. He was the first polar bear cub to survive past infancy at the Berlin Zoo in more than thirty years. If you'd like to know more about him, visit this link below:

Another thing which I love would be the friendly Harp Seals. Ooohh... their simply beautiful creations. hehehe...

The Highlight:

How awful and heartless are those who slaughter these innocent and helpless Harp pups. It's just too painful to even think about it. SAVE THE SEALIONS!!! SAVE THE WORLD!!!! STOP KILLING!!!! Please do help end this by visiting this website below:

You'd be surprised how serious this matter is becoming. Please, Please help spread the word!

Thank You!

My Guitar Heroes

I would often wonder how it would be like to be as great as these guitar heroes. Just by admiring those talented hands they've got from fret to fret and chord to chord. I even had a dream once of attending Carlos Santana's music school in high school after graduating my O's. LOL... But that dream would remain a dream.

I've grown up in a music oriented environment as my dad would always play his favorite artists, from blues to rock, Soul to Jazz and from Funk to Fock. As a child, my dad and I would sing to the Beatles as he would drive me off to school. More often, he would shop for new cassette's of the latest albums by Eric Clapton, Spiral Stair Case, George Benson and other favorites. I'd hear my dad unwrap the plastic covering as it crackles and opens to check out the album insert. I would hear him sing along to the songs with full emotion like as though he was having his own mini concert in the living room. hahah.. no kidding! I guess that's where I got it from. hehe...

Memories of my childhood just flashes back when listening to old tunes from Guns and Roses, Queens, Jimi Hendrix, Prince, Led Zeppelin, The Everly Brothers, Simon & Garfunkel, Deep Purple, Bryan Adams, Chicago, The Temptations, Earth Wind & Fire, Bob Marley, Alanis Morisette, Rollingstones, Metallica, The Eagles, The Allman Brothers Band and the list just goes on...

Alanis Morisette and Sheryl Crow were one of my favourite rockers during the time i started showing interest in guitars. It just amazed me that women can rock too. Then the newer generation started coming in such as Michelle Branch and Avril Lavigne. I was even more inspired seeing girls around my age, at that time, rocking out on their guitars. It was like, WOW! And I thought, I wanna be that girl - rocking it!

It takes a lot of effort, practice and patience to be in that level of commitment. That just wasn't me, especially when your tryna teach yourself to play. But on my 14th birthday, a pretty close friend decided to get me an affordable, acoustic guitar. This just changed the whole I'm-too-lazy-to-learn- mode. Instead, I got my classmates and I to help each other around in our guitar learning. It made things easier and I got more inspiration to improve myself thoroughly. Years passed, and today on my 21 years of age, I've been blessed to play the instrument in a better place. I have never imagined to be playing with other awesome musicians such as my church mates. It's deffinitely an honour to be a part of a worship team, where every talented musician gather twice a week for practices and tryna learn from one another. It helps improve the rusty areas after not having able to play after highschool. LOL...

This time around, I wanna push myself a lil more further in my techniques. To be out there, rockin' out for Jesus and not for the sake of just playing. In fact, playing over the years made me discover my style rather clearly. It's just that simple note of Jazz and Blues that make me wanna go further as I play the instrument. Its my type of Music. Even ever since I started listening to some of my dad's collections of B.B king, Eric Clapton, Prince, Buddy Guy, George Benson, Ray Charles and Jimi Hendrix, my passion for music just became happening. Like, Wow! hehe... As John Mayer ones said in an interview with Rolling Stone Magazine...

"I am attracted to what I don't know. Everyone else I knew said things like, "I watched him play and made me wanna quit." I never wanted to put the guitar down. I watched guys who made me wana pick it up. That's when you have the disease: you get your butt kicked, and you say "I'm going to figure out why I lost that fight."

I love that spirit. I don't wana stop where I am right now. I wanna fight the battle. What it takes to get better, I'll get there where my God will take me in this music of ministry. hehehe...

The road trip

Destination: Lutong, Miri Malaysia
Day/Date: Thursday, 2/10/08
Time: 9am
Highlight: Fellowship

Refreshing week, wonderful fellowship and just an amazing time away. Monday just came too soon. This lil' adventure we had was just wicked! Got to spend more time with the 20 something team, made better relationships with the younger girls and had the chance to lay back, relax and just chill.

My older brother got to join us, finally! Observing his joy and excitement as he packed for the journey reminded me of the way we used to get all hyped out about flying back to the Philippines. We would have trouble sleeping the night before and when its time, we would jump out from our beds and quickly grab our back packs in our PJ's. lol... And yesh! I'm talking about a brother who is a year older than I am. hahaha...

I'm glad we all got the chance to have this trip. For those who didn't know, St. Andrew's church was invited by the Lutong Church to launch their Torch Ministry. It was held at the Good Shepherd Parish Lutong (T's hometown) and it was a beautiful place with beautiful people. It was my first time there and already I was enlightened by the smiles of the many people. I'd like to go back there one day.

We met new faces and people who we've missed, Janet & Judith. The CADM team got to prepare a lil' presentation which went well. ^_^ Real funny too... Will grab a vid of it once I get a hold on to it from Tim. Mhuahahaha.. So you'd understand the funny side of it. Bahahah...

We stayed at Emperial Hotel, Boulevard. Such a lovely place and it was worth a two night's stay. It was a blessing indeed and oh yes! Loved the gym and pool. hehe... Good thing I was prepared for it. I always bring my swimming gear at every travel and when we found out about the pool, dang! Were we all crazee or what. LOL We even had to help Sheiela look for a swimming suite because she hasn't got one for the trip. And Praise God! She finally found what she was looking for. Woot!

Although It seemed like we were just too comfortable in our trip, my daddy Jesus taught me a lesson from it. I was taught to take a step further from my comfort zone. To be more sensitive in my surroundings. I admit that there are times I tend to forget about other lil' but important things in life, when left too comfortable in one area. Left me not bothered by my surroundings. This trip just about revealed all that, right in my face. Just a moment to stop and NOT just think about oneself but putting other people first. Having to sacrifice one thing u like most just to do what is right. I'm taking this from a scenario which happened during the trip. LOL...

Picture this:
7 Girls, 1 room, 2 beds and 1 bathroom.

Ahhh...yesh! Comfort! heheh... give, take turns, share and be marry!!! lol =P

Sunshine

Indeed there's just sunshine every after a rainy season. And I Praise my daddy Jesus for that. Alot has happened for the past 2 weeks. Sure was a roller coaster journey. hehehe... There were even some moments where I'd just sit in one corner, pondering about what my tomorrow would've been w/o seeing a lil sun-shinin' out my window. But hey, my God's my light and He surely lights up the pathways He has made for me and you. As it is written in Job 11:13...

"Still, if you set your heart on God and reach out to him, If you scrub your hands of sin and refuse to entertain evil in your home, You'll be able to face the world unashamed and keep a firm grip on life, guiltless and fearless. You'll forget your troubles; they'll be like old, faded photographs. Your world will be washed in sunshine, every shadow dispersed by dayspring. Full of hope, you'll relax, confident again; you'll look around, sit back, and take it easy. Expansive, without a care in the world, you'll be hunted out by many for your blessing. But the wicked will see none of this. They're headed down a dead-end road with nothing to look forward to—nothing."

I wanna share about an incident that turned out to be an accident. Surely, it was just a devastating way of starting my vacation. Especially when you thought that everything was in place turned out that, that something you hold on to dearly, just loses its way down to the unexpected.

It was a Friday, at around 7:45pm. After our weekly practice for YDM and CADM. Packed up the instruments, settled down for the next destination and without realizing the boot of the car wasn't locked. As we drove out to the street, not far from where we parked, we were already comfortable in our seats until we heard a slam from behind as T stepped on the gas for accileration. Looking from our rear view mirror, there it was, lying in the middle of the road was my guitar bag, with my Fender Squire inside. I felt my heart stopped a beat as I rushed out, ran, and came for it without thinking twice. Cars were passing by it, trying to avoid it. I ran as quickly as I could and when I reached the point, quickly did I unzip the bag to see what damage had been done. Tears just weld up and anger just rushed in. Didn't know what to think, who to blame, and where to even begin. Keeping silent for awhile somehow helped for a bit. but not for long...

Well, as you can sense from how the story had been written - devastated still is all I feel thinking about it. But the damage has been done. There's nothing I could do about it really. There was no one to blame but to just move on from it. I didn't chose to take a pic of the damage coz it would just leave a shot of miserable memories, although Im just speaking about a "thing."

Moral of the story:
DOUBLE CHECK THE BOOT!!! hahaha.. nah! I'm just thankful my guitar still plays a tune and is still in one whole. Most importantly, the incident didn't cause any damage or any further accident s to the other cars on the road.

Felt that often I grip on certain things that are too dear to me, and when an unexpected thing happens, that's when pain comes in. Just like sin. The more you treat it like its hard to let go, the more pain it'll give oneself. I'm just a sinner like anyone else on earth, I've got a lot of bad habits to let go. Laziness is one thing. LOL I gotta scrub that stain off to be able to gain my sunshine back.

But hey, my vacation was still a high-light beyond all shadows. Share with you next time about my Lil' lovely Lutong Trip. For now, just shine! ^_^

In Him,
Laurice
