Sacrificial Attempt

Have you ever come across some stranger who unexpectedly joins you for lunch and begins to open your eyes on hidden blessings in your life?

Well, today I just have.

I went for an unusual earlier lunch, just a few blocks away from where I worked and satisfied my cravings for some Chinese dish. The restaurant was expectantly filled with working people and therefore made my way for the bigger table by the end, nearest to the kitchen, where most lonely people sit for lunch without any lunching partners.

A man drags a chair by the table where I was sitting and asked if it was OK for him to join me. Without hesitation, I quickly said, "Sure! No problem!"

One obvious reason why I didn't hesitate was because I knew him one time, during an event where he had to take pictures together with his crew. Though I didn't know him personally, i felt the comfort to have a casual conversation.

All I knew about this man was that he's a very talented photographer and rather polite - or so I thought he was just being one. But throughout the brief conversation we had, he was more than just what I thought he was...

I saw a guy who had painful scars in his heart but never stopped believing in God's purposes for his future.

He told me stories about his family, life in Brunei as a Philippine overseas worker and his shattered dreams of becoming a less appreciated photographer.

He has been working in the country for almost 21 years, supporting two kids (one 18 and the youngest 13) and wife who are residing in the Philippines. He told me that his family has never visited Brunei since he started his work, abroad due to financial reasons. For almost 18 years he has worked for the company he's working for, at present, he has lived to the extent of earning about B$350 per month and sometimes even B$200. His working hours are from 8:30 in the morning till' 9:30 in the evening, everyday without shifts. He's facing a number of challenges in life where he had to sacrifice so much just to make a living in a country where opportunities aren't so clear.

But he kept on working harder and harder each and everyday. No matter what it takes to be a servant with no complaints. He faced his everyday with a smile on his face and to be excited with what the day has to bring.

From his stories, he revealed how blessed I was to be staying with my family, supported with a good job and better opportunities. He showed me that no matter what your profession is, we need to make sacrifices in life to see how far God will take us. That no matter how much pain we have to go through, in the end, if we keep on trusting God, everything will be worth the risk.

Everyday, I wondered how far the Lord would take me with what He has done for me and my family here in Brunei. Would I be ready to make sacrifices in life one day and face my everyday with a smile no matter what it brings?

What about you? Don't you think you are blessed today with what you've got? Even the lil' things in life that you have and what others don't have?

I thank God for speaking to me through strangers in the unexpected days and for teaching me lessons which I can share with other people.

The girl in the Mirror

Today I came home asking myself what people actually see when they look at a Filipina girl like me staying in a country which is not my own. I've been told ones, not by one but many others that when one of your kind does something tremendously bad that reflects your race, the other people of the same kind reveals a stinky reputation to the eyes of many.

Perhaps a quarter of the population of Filipina girls found around the other parts of the world has a reputation which Isn't very pleasing to many. And just because of that, alota people would quickly judge the rest of the Filipina's based on what they know or may think they know.

It's quite heart breaking to feel as though you're being looked down at just because of your race. Especially in a country which outnumbers you by many other races. Truly it Isn't just because most of the Filipinas you know who are awful at many things means every single one of us are equally the same. Remember that we are just any other human on earth who Isn't perfect.

I have been living in Brunei since the age of 1 and quite frankly I've made both good and bad relationships with many different races. I have never quite actually been treated badly due to my race yet but growing up things just started to look so much different. Even though I've been brought up almost my entire life here, i can differentiate quickly how we are treated so differently to the other races. Differently in terms of trust issues.

Often i hear a lot of stories about other Filippina Women being hooked up in juicy stories as Mistresses, Hookers, Users, Liars, Abusers to their employers and other awful stuff you hear within the country they stay in. This in fact breaks my heart to know that because of these issues, most of my people are looked at this way and I don't blame those who can't seem to trust us easily.

I pray that this issue would be fixed. Where no racism occurs in our midst. Though i am still hurt by the issue, I will stand tall and strong. What lesson would this give? How can I help to solve the problem? Would I have the heart for my people too? Do i remain embarrassed about the situation or should I be brave enough to do something about it?

Guess this is the only thing which I am not proud about my race...

Heartbroken will I remain...

Maybe I should

and 5, 6, 7, 8... *Bones cracking* :(

Terrible! at the age of soon-to-be 22 already i feel like 82. My dancing skills need real polishing. I'm so out of shape and for the past couple of days I've been watching "So you think you can dance" I feel like I should've pursued my dance training and never have stopped after high school. They're just so inspiring and its giving me that motivation to go a lil' step forward.

Teaching dance and learning dance has a whole lot of difference in many ways. Right now i just want to be a student once again. I need new ideas, fresh techniques and a whole lota warm ups (with more discipline and push in excelling one self) :)

Ok! So I've been thinking... Maybe I should take this seriously. Like apply myself in a dance school where dance is seriously taken. It's just my time management with everything else that goes around that's bugging me right now. haha... God willing I can pursue this thing I love doing most! hehe...

Anyways, here's a vid of a guy named Alex Bullon with extreme talent!

Observe the little kid on his right. haha..so adorable! ;)

a lil dose of tranquility

After awhile of not blogging, it gets to a point when you don't even know how to start or even name a post anymore. Anyways, I suppose you'd all know the reason for this, it's simply because of how buzy i've been for the month and it's getting a lil' boring typing the same ol' reason out on almost all my posts which appears on every other unsual days.

Recently, the only most exciting thing for the month was celebrating my dad's and the boyfriend's birthday. Interestingly my dad's was just a day before the boyfriend's so since I've got terrible work duties last Sunday, we decided to celebrate it together on my dad's last 4th at Charcoal's. It was the first time my family and I ever ate in that pricy restaurant. haha... we're not too rich to afford such places so we thought of giving it a try for a special reason for such special people. haha...but really, it was worth the try! Got my two special men all satisfied and comfortably full. ahaha...

One thing i'm still crossed about for the month is this: "Megan Fox is a Man!" Like seriously?!? Not that it matters to me coz I'm not really a fan but... seriously?!? It's just awfully weird to even think about but unfortunately got it stuck in my thoughts for weeks after watching Tranformers 2. Don't get me wrong though I thought the movie was just supurb! Great job on the sequel.

Like any normal lady, I've decided to treat myself on a new look for the month. I haven't bothered taking vain pictures yet though coz I've been lazy. I've got my hair dyed again but this time it ain't blond, its red. haha.... i know you must be thinking, "what the hell was she thinking?!" but i've decided to take the risk. How? I don't know, maybe because it was out of stress during the weekend?? haha.. Oh pwehleezz!!! Some women just have to make themselves feel good sometimes ok? like with hair especially. My trusted hairdresser gave me a new shape, too. It's a mixture of Katie Holme's and Kimberly Wyatt's...

Picture it yet? LOL ofcourse these women are farrr more gorgeous but just concentrate on the hair. haha... xP

Anyways, right now I'm yearning for some time off. Scenery: Beach. Sunny. Windy. Hammock. Shady tree. Good Book. Ahh...

Good day everyone! Don't let H1N1 get to you. Stay safe and be happy!

Cheers...

Life's too Short

1958 - 2009

Heard the News on telly this AM while I was getting ready for work. My dad tunes into CNN every morning and this time the Breaking News was rather unusual. Boy! Was I in shock when I heard about MJ's death. It was just too soon - too fast! May you rest in peace, MJ.

Childhood memories listening to his music flashed back, leaving me mesmerized by his amazing talent which inspired many people of all generations. Despite all the terrible stories left about him and his life, still I believe he would've been a better man off the spotlight! It's the fame which ruined his life. But certainly i applause in every music he has created and those superb dance skills which God has blessed him with.

You leave me speechless....

Their at it again...

I always find that this year's season is still the best. So you think you can dance 2009 is yet to find the best and deserving dancer of the season but it's quite tough this year though. I have found my inspiration yet again from a hip hop couple. hahah... take a look at this vid right here...

Like seriously! That was just soo unfreakin' real! haha..coming from a contemporary jazz ballet dancer to.... A HIP HOPPER!!! That's just real talent i gotta say. There's so much more unbelievable dancers in the season and I just can't wait to know whose gonna nail it to the finals.

Oh and my weekend was such a wonderful experience. For the first time ever, i was invited to judge the Gen dance 2009 for the SMS school Footworks. It was certainly inspiring to see the younger generation to have grown passionately over dancing. Memories flashed back watching the lil kids doing their thing and it just made me feel a lil older. LOL :P dang! No! A lot older coz these kids were still in diapers when I was still in the SMS dance academy. sigh*

I'm thinking, I am so never gona stop dancing. HAHA... Despite the age, heck no! Will still be a hip granny one day. haha...

There's one in all of us...

Right now... no! scrap that - This past few days... there's this lil' monster that's taking a whole lot of me. A whoOOle LOT! This lil' bugger's got me from tip to toe. Not sure for how long but I certainly wanna get rid of it real quick.

Not in the mood to talk to anyone about it. Don't really care. You see? There it is at me - teaching that lil' dunno-don-care attitude that snaps right back atcha.

Oh and great! Starting my morning today was rather irritating. Got someone yelling "You're so FAT" at me today and guess what the lil monster in me wanted to do? Strangle? Kick? Slap? GRrrr... Believe the idiot!!! I would've done all the above but I wasn't exactly fit to do all the lil stunts. Jeez...

Honestly! I am not feeling so good - not just about that insult I had this morning - but about ALOT of things. Specifically Me-myself-and-I! Times when I just wanna be alone because chances are when you're probably with me now - I might just even hurt you with my words - not really physically. :P And mind you - I have actually hurt someone many times with my mouth and I just don't ever want that to happen again.

I'm trying to find myself in this situation, What's in my heart. Nobody wants to be the bad guy, although sometimes i do feel i am and it's killing me. I'm feeling a lot of pain for not treating people right and being downright honest with them. I'm tired of pleasing people and to even care what the heck their thinking about. Certainly these are just the times when I don't really wanna care about what people think of me. Or should I? Ahhh snap! This is it. This is what I'm talking about..

I'm hoping this is just a phase I have to go through. Deal with. Learn from. Stay away from? I'm not sure about the last point. I haven't really stayed away from it since the last time I've actually felt this way. Even after having someone to give me comforting advices. At some point, i just end up feeling this way over and over again. Like syit!

Ahhh... bullocks! This is just how that lil' monster in me looks like. I'd like to think of it as cute. I'm not sure what this is telling me about ME. But somehow, reading the story about this lil' boy in "Where the wild things are", just tames that monster in me. It's this irritating adventure I have to go through in life at 21.

I don't wanna keep trying to be a better person - I want to do all things good by being a good person - that pleases my Father in heaven. This is it! My challenge...

I'm bringin' Sexy Black, Hey!‏

Here's the fact! My Week's all tickled with Black delight - with a lil' hint of bright colours to make it just right!

It's been a boo hoo week for me and I'm just tryna' find the right style to fit in the mood. Black just fits in so perfectly and all the lil' hints of colours are just the lil things that makes me smile in a day. :P ok! maybe not as bad as that but hey, I may like Black but I just can't live without colours ok?! ;P

Inspiration style of the Month: Jessica Alba.

iLIKE the fact that she keeps things simple and yet stylish in a comfortable way. I don't usually go Ooh-la-la's on anyone's attire of the day, week, month or whatever year but i realized one thing from it - it helps me learn what & what NOT to wear one day. haha...

(Please click to enlarge the image above)

Oh and, last night I got myself some new working clothes in addition to my Nicole Exclusive collection. Whoopee... It's not all the time I get to treat myself with branded clothing and besides, it was HOT SALE! bahaha.. Weakness... :P

Daydreamin

Don't judge me too quick on this one. haha... speaking for all the ladies, It's normal for us to daydream ones in awhile. (Ok! well maybe most of the time) This post has nothing to do with taking on a serious note but certainly hoping that one day - this would come true. hehe... :P

Every girl has their dream wedding visualized somehow in the corner of their minds and it's just a matter of waiting for the right dude to step into the scene. haha...Simple yet elegant and modern is definitely at the top of my wedding list. I'd love a warm, fuzzy and cozy feel to the surroundings where I can feel the sunny breeze during the reception. I'm thinking by the beach, with a hawaiian sorta feel. I've got it perfectly visualized at the top of my head. A lil' blend of Turquiose, Lavendar and White for the theme is just what I'd dream of. My flowers has to be Orchids, ooh how I love Orchids!!!

Inspiration taken from here!

haha..one sweet day!

Going Exclusive

I'm not sure what sorta rock hit me today but I'm certainly up for a lil' wardrobe upgrade. Yes! It's high time I do something about this coz when you're finally working in a Bizz Oriented Environment, "Plain.Corporate.Simple.Professional - yet never boring" is the highlight of everything!

I never thought I'd be working in an office environment one day, where almost everyday I'd be dealing with many different bizz people in suites & neck ties. (Taking Business as a course was the least thing I was ever interested in) Intimidating is the word when I first time sat behind the meeting table, listening and paying much attention to every word everyone was discussing about. It was nerve racking and simply uncomfortable. Recalling the incident just made me smile about how NEWBIE i looked and that no one took me seriously.

Clothes certainly matters and it gives a BIG impression on other people. It shows your personality and at a age I'm in , its not very common to see them in Coats and plain coloured Shirts with Name cards with them all the time. Surely I've been really blessed!

I've always liked the way people looked in their Uniforms. Though It was Ironic that I was the one who never liked to be in uniforms and was always a rebel at wearing them in the right place. Never have I liked the idea of wearing a neck tie for a school uniform nor did I like the idea of wearing my hair neatly in a pony-tail. Uggghh... I was a messy girl in high school. Ragged was my thing and black sports shoes - accompanied with my long Grey school skirt was highly the "In-thing" for me, in the past. LOL

The thought of my weird sense of fashion in the past was just utterly disturbing and way out! But now - never have I been too conscious with the way I wore my clothes. Not to mention having girly shoes that accompanied my well-selected-feminine-dresses.

I'm eye-ing on corporate clothing these days and would love nothing but to purchase on affordable-fancy-eye catching- office wear. Shoes. Coats. Skirts. Slacks. Belts. Bags. You name it. No Hats! hahaha...na-ah!

I am officially a Young Lady after all. haha...*Reminded by the the character which Anne Hathaway played in her role as
Andy Sachs in "The Devil Wears Prada"

Blues Clues

Hello dear fellow bloggers! It's a beautiful Monday and surpricingly I'm not affected by the Monday Blues just yet. There's just so many things to do!!! There's no time for complaining nor feeling crappy about anything at the moment. haha..not that I'm gonna be putting it all up here If I had to. :P

It's been a year from now since my flight back to the PI - processing my working papers. WOOT* :) I'm just so blessed right now to be in a place where I know I'm kept busy with work rather than not having to do anything for a living. I honestly think that waking up early in the morning- looking forward to a thing called "work" is highly motivating for me right now. haha...

What about you guys? Hope your Monday Isn't messed up just yet. Don't stress lah! hahaha... figured that the more you say this to a person - the more the person gets stressed about a certain thing. Just sing it out! Take a chill pill... :P

Curtains Down

Rusty! Absolutely not in good condition anymore. I mean seriously! (Well I meant my body & dancing feet :P) Can't remember the last time I've actually been in a real 'on the spot light' production since the Lion King and Cinderella musical. Oh how I've missed those times. Missing my younger years where the academy would just dance till' we'd drop. Missed everything about dancing. Haven't worn these ballet pointes in like years. I certainly think their not in good condition anymore either as they're supposed to be replaced by brand new ones every other performances.

Ooh another interesting thing happening soon. Anyone remember Fame (1980) hit film ??? LOL. Yea well i doubt most of you would remember this old movie but great news is that their reinventing the movie this year. Woot! Now this I oughta see. I can't wait for this...

Hello Today, goodbye yesterday...

Feeling rather uncomfortable at the moment. My mind's been playing tricks on me lately. I've been getting all these flash-backs from the odd past. *sings Get outa' ma head - by Ashlee Simpson* (which is a stupid song btw) :P Arrghh...

How's everyone doing? Not really something I'd usually ask in my blog but like I said - I'm feeling rather odd right now. Tuesday oh Tuesday... wish it was the weekend already. Then again - I wish it were not. Wish time would just stop for a moment. Where I'd be taken to a place where I'd see myself in the future. Well... i think that would be scary though. It reminds me of Mr. Scrooge in the animated movie of "The Ghost of Christmas". Past - Present - Future. *Shiverrs*

"Closure: I am over you, DANG YES I AM!"

You guys have a better Tuesday. I'm off to wonderland. It's the weekdays for goodness sake..

SMILE! :)

Fiddle Diddle

Tick tock time goes by real quickly for me, its March Yo! Yea obviously I don't have the interest in fiddling with some random ideas with my outdated blog... Today today is a very disappointing day for my Man U boiz. Sigh* 4 - 1???? What happened man? I very sad lah. Sigh* After having to rush home from a real heavy rain, excited to watch the game between Man U and Liverpool and this is what I get??? Sigh* Maybe next time. At least the first score was from my man Ronaldo! Woot! But heck, I still wished they won though. Oh well...

Love my new layout? haha... I'm on a black & white phase this month. Love the dramatic effect. At the moment my creative mode is switched off so can't think of anything much to include in this post of mine. Words and simply just words. I just wanna praise my big daddy Jesus for keeping me occupied with responsibilities at the moment. It's certainly shaping me for something better ahead. Dang! It would certainly be a bummer if I were bumming right now. LOL - although a short break would be good right now though. Just a short time to reflect on the awesome blessings I've been receiving.

My bad eating habits

Recently, work & birthdays has been causing me to eat, eat & for goodness sake, EAT! Who doesn't enjoy eating anyways. I love eating! But it certainly Isn't doing pretty well for my health lately. I used to be sooo health conscious that often I tend to be fussy about oil in my food, have a loaf of bread for lunch and survive the evening with just drinking water. And you say, "what the hell is she thinking?" Yea..it was that bad in highschool. But as soon as I head off to college, i couldnt care less with what I ate coz I'm lovin' the food!

Figures, its all about control in food intake and not to mention a good time of workout. Been working on it. Slowly tryna get back on my health conscious attitude. But this time, the right way. I'm so not starving myself to death this time and go for extreme healthy organic foods. But that doesn't mean I'm banned from Jollibee. At least ones a week. LOL :P

Besides, I've got my dancing to back me up for a lil' extra calorie burn out. hehehe... :P

Interesting...

Never thought I'd be interested in all the myths of vampires and werewolves. Just recently I went see Underworld 3 (The Rise of the Lycans) and went totally into it. I've seen the first one years ago and thought it had great graphics but the story line was way off the hook this time.

I used to get freaked out about these mystical creatures but beneath the disturbing stories, i find it rather interesting now. There's just something about it. Weird, i know but I'm liking how it all begun. The history was certainly full of mystery and I'm just looking forward to seeing more of these in the future. hehe...Great movie I thought. Those who hasn't seen it should check it out!

My prayer for the day...

This is my prayer in the desert
And all that's within me feels dry
This is my prayer in the hunger in me
My God is a God who provides

And this is my prayer in the fire
In weakness or trial or pain
There is a faith proved
Of more worth than gold
So refine me Lord through the flames

And I will bring praise
I will bring praise
No weapon forged against me shall remain

I will rejoice
I will declare
God is my victory and He is here

And this is my prayer in the battle
And triumph is still on it's way
I am a conqueror and co-heir with Christ
So firm on His promise I'll stand

All of my life

In every season
You are still God
I have a reason to sing
I have a reason to worship

This is my prayer in the harvest
When favor and providence flow
I know I'm filled to be empited again
The seed I've recieved I will sow

Amen...

The learning Process...

I've been terribly busy with work lately and honestly got no time to update this place. I know my last post was about a "Book" which everyone seems to be reading on as well but I've been done with it in just a week. Yes people! I suggest you grab yourselves one and have a good read on it, too.

Anywhooo....last Sunday Cass, my bro Kit, T & I went to Berakas Recreational Park for a breather & it was just what I needed. A moment of quietness and just some time away from all the crazee hours. Took the opportunity to take some shots with my baby Canon and these are just some of them. It's awesome having an older bro like Kit to teach me these things and I'm loving photography even more. Looking forward for more adventures with my cam and this is just the beginning...

ZZzzz....

Hello dear fellow readers, today is the 2nd day of the year 2009 and I am making it a bigger deal to take my blogging at a serious level from now on. (At least trying to xP) Well, there's no harm in trying. hehe... It's time to kick out those lazy and filthy bad attitudes out in the wilderness and start a good ol' fresh change.

Well anyways... waking up early today was a pretty tough challenge for me. Was so tempted to head back to bed and just pretend it was still a public holiday. I mean, ok! I did mention it before that I was well adjusted at my work after the hols but wow! Not when you just played DDR on a New Years Day, at 10:45pm - 1am and not to mention after having a slight drink of a bottle of Vodca (Light FYI! Otherwise, I would have been knocked out. Haha..) That was a total work-out and man oh man! Did I ever tell you how hard I sucked at this game. I mean seriously, a 7 year old kid actually defeated me over an expert mode and I, on a beginner's mode. Daym this freaking DDR's seriously put me to a test. And I mean like a serious physical test for I tell you how much my body has ached through out the evening. HAHA xP I honestly need to start working out/eating right this new year. haha... anyone out there willing to be my workout buddy??? :D

I guess this is where the real good, talented dancers stand. HAHA... those who can't dance, do DDR and those who can, DANCE & not STEP. PFFT... xP

Waaaah!!! I'm craving!!! Somebody, slap me!

Oh hello! I seriously need to wake -up...
